Subject: Mary Jenks Hutson--My great-grandmother Mary M. Jenks was the 2nd of 8 children of Erastus Jenks, 15 years of age in the 1850 census for Rockford, Winnebago Co. Ill. Sometime before 1855, she married (?possibly Algeron?) Hutson. Since her son Albert Jerome Hutson was born in Rockford, Winnebago, Il 17 May 1855, It is likely that the marriage took place in or near Rockford as well. By 1857, she was widowed, and had moved to LaCrosse County Wisconsin, where on 16 Nov 1857 she married my great-grandfather Milo Abbott. I would like to find the record of Mary's Marriage to (?Algeron?) Hutson, (some records show Hudson,) and⁄or a death record for (?) Hutson. Would also be interested to find out if Erastus Jenks, her father , was still in IL in 1860. In 1870 US & in 1875 WI census he was in LaCrosse Co.,WI.. Any help would be much appreciated. Sincerely, John C. Gamerdinger <jgamer@asapnet.net>

Does anyone have information about James Heffernan and wife, Mary Crogan? They are listed in the 1860 census in Belvidere Roll 157, page 616. They had four children at the time: Mary-7,Margaret-4, Michael-2, John-1. James went to the gold rush in California in late 1850's. After nine years of separation, he sent for his wife. Her mother came with her and the children by train across the Panama Canal and by ship to San Francisco where they had three more children. Is there a local paper that might mention people leaving for the Gold Rush or journeying to California? Any other clues would be greatly appreciated. Happy hunting, Phyllis O'Shea <phyll5061@aol.com>

I am looking for the death of Ebenezer HARTWELL. His first wife was Mary Sumner. I would be interested in finding her death records too. After her death, Ebenezer HARTWELL married a Belvidere STEVENS. They had several children and were living in Cherry Valley on the 1860 census. Ebenezer was listed as 68 years old at this time. On the 1850 census he was listed as being 60 years old!! His wife, Belvidere was only 37 in the year of 1860. In 1866, Belvidere married a man by the name of Alexander H. ADAMS. I am assuming that Ebenezer had died between the years of 1860 to 1866. I would appreciate any information on these people. I am especially interested in finding a death record on Ebenezer. Thank you for any help given. Sally
