My name is Marjie Morgenthaler and I live in central California. All my mother's relatives came from Sweden and settled in Rockford. My mother was the only one to leave and that is why I live in California. I am trying to find out as much information on my family as I can as she never went back so I never got to know anyone except my aunt. I am researching the following people: My g-grandmother Maria Larson lived in Rockford until her death in 1934. Her children were Andrew Lundquist (died 2⁄12⁄1942, Augusta Larson (died Feb.28,1920), Anna Lundquist(?) and Hannah Lundquist (returned to Sweden sometime after 1930). Augusta's children were Esther Miller (My mother) Anna Miller Zimmerman (Owned the Charles Street Hardware)and George Miller ( Owned Miller Transportation) If anyone knows anything about any of these people I would love to hear from you. I am searching for info on my great-grandfather's family. He was Frank Austin LANCASTER (b. Nov. 1862, Shirland, IL). He grew up in Winnebago County, IL. According to family stories, he was "adopted" by Sarah (HYDE) and Thomas LANCASTER. Supposedly, AUSTIN was the surname of his birth mother. Would love to find his birth mother's line too, if anyone knows of a woman in their family history who gave up her baby about that time. Also looking for info on Hyde and Lancaster. Thanks, Becky Wilson

Morse and⁄or Bachelder Families--I have an old letter (1937) in which my g-g-aunt tells about her father, George Washington Bachelder, immigrating from Maine to Rockton, Illinois, in the 1830's where he built a blacksmith shop. Apparently his uncle, William Morse, had moved there even earlier in the 1830's and had planted an apple orchard with seeds he had brought with him from Maine. Is there any way of checking this information out to see if any of it is true? Jim Schultz <jschultz@essex1.com>.

Thomas R. Price born c 1823 Pa, stated in 1862, when enlisting for Civil War, that his place of residence was Rockford, IL. He enlisted at Calhoun co. IL, served 3 years as a nurse aide. He was of German ancestor and according to tradition was a minister. Have a reprint of picture of him standing behind an pupit. I am enclined to think of the Mennoitte, or possible the Lutheran Church . Only possible other known Price name is Alias Price, found in family papers, but none known. Military papers show only he was born in Pa. Married Sabra Eunice Steed, 1 Mar 1866, in Calhoun co. IL 1870, and died March 1879 in Greene co. IL, leaving wife and three children.

I am searching for information on by father, ORIE L. PARKER who lived in Rockford, Illinois from 1921 until 1930. I do know that he was discharged from the Army in Rockford in 1922. I find that he married a Margaret LIGHTFOOT CARR in Freeport, Illinois on 3 March1921. Margaret Carr had been married as Mrs. Lightfoot and had two children listed as Lightfoot.Orie L. Parker was employeed by the Barber-Coleman Company in Loves Park, Illinois as a machinist.Orie L. Parker and Margaret Parker or listed in the City Directory of Rockford as residing first at 713 Green Street in 1923, then 709 Green Streeet in 1925, 1926 at Washington Park, then 1927-28 at 523 Newport Avenue and 1928-29-30 at 604 Sydney Avenue in Loves Park. The 1930 term of Circuit Court has record of an Petition for Divorce and Cross-Bill with final divorce about Jan. 1931.Orie Parker moved to E. St. Louis, Ill and re-married and fathered 4 children and the rest is history of record. I am looking for more on this 10 years in Rockford and what happened to Margaret Lightfoot and the two boys. When Orie L. Parker married the first time the bride listed her name as Margaret Louis McNeal, born in Evansville, Indiana. This Margaret Louise McNeal on the marriage license issued in Stephenson County, Illinois listed her as "miss Louise McNeal age 25 and that this was her first marriage. In the Divorce she states she was formerly Mrs. Carr and before that Mrs. Lightfoot and that the two boys are both Lightfoot and in 1930 the ages are 22 and 19 which would have made them 12 and 10 at the time of marriage to Parker. Orie Parker's wife may be listed as:
Margaret Louis McNeal; or

Margaret Carr

I am desceneded from some WRIGHT people who lived in Winnebago County for only 14 years! George S. WRIGHT, who was born in England about 1801, and his wife Mary _______, who was born in NJ about 1809, moved from Rockdale Co., PA to Winnebago Co., IL with their three sons George W. WRIGHT, Asa Scott WRIGHT and and Charles WRIGHT in approx. 1852. Both George W. and Asa Scott served in the 55TH Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry from 9⁄9⁄1861 to 8⁄14⁄1865. Their enlistment records show Burritt Township as their residence(s). George W. married Rebecca A. HILTON of Lonsdale, RI in Rockford, IL on April 10, 1866. Asa S. married Ellen J. BARSLEY in 1863, presumably in IL. The whole lot of them moved to the Dakota Territory in 1866. I am looking for any information on George S. and Mary. I have very little information on Charles except that he died 11⁄18⁄71. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will share info. and own a book entitled "The Story of the 55th Illinois Infantry", written by "A Commitee of the Regiment" and published in 1887 by W.J. Coulter, Clinton, Massachusetts. Thank you.

I am searching for the death record for Jeremiah WHALEY who is listed in LDS records as having died in Cherry Valley, Winnebago Co., Ill on April 14, 1856. I have probate records from the filing in Allamakee Co., Iowa in July of 1856 biled by his wife requesting title to their farm in Iowa. I am trying to prove that these two men are one and the same. There is no burial record for Jeremiah in Iowa, and I have been told that he was on his way from Iowa to Indiana when he died. He and his family had left Springfield. Allen Co., Ind. in 1855 for Iowa. If anyone has proof of Jeremiah Whaley's death in Illinois. please email to thinkhorse@aol.com Joam Magee
